A Place Between — Melbourne Design Week 2026

As part of this year’s Melbourne Design Week, we were proud to collaborate with DKO on A Place Between - an immersive installation that transformed an empty Collingwood warehouse into a place of pause, gathering and collective presence.
Set within a dormant industrial interior suspended between its former life and what comes next, the project explored architecture’s ability to create moments of refuge within the vastness of the city. Through subtle interventions of light, sound, and materiality, the warehouse was temporarily reactivated as a softer, more human-centred environment - one that invited conversation, reflection and shared experience.
Like a tent lightly placed in the landscape, the installation formed a threshold between the scale of the city and the scale of the body. Talks, performance and quiet moments, unfolded naturally throughout the space, encouraging visitors to slow, gather and connect through design.

We were delighted to contribute our Solid Block Stool to the installation, pieces that quietly supported the intention of the project - grounded, tactile objects designed for sitting, pausing and being present together. Integrated within the wider spatial experience, they became part of a considered dialogue between materiality, atmosphere and human connection.
